Community Gardens
225 Race Street --  September 5, 2014
What is a
Community Garden?

Very simply, it is any piece of land gardened by a group of people. It can be urban, suburban, or rural. It can grow flowers, vegetables, herbs or a combination thereof. It can be one community plot, or can be many individual plots. According to the American Community Garden Association (ACGA), community gardens provide a catalyst for neighborhood and community development; beautify neighborhoods, conserve resources; create opportunity for recreation, exercise, therapy, and education; reduce crime; and preserve green space.
West Pittston Tomorrow is very excited to announce the first community garden in the Garden Village!  The community garden is built on a re-purposed FEMA lot located at 225 Race Street.  Individual plots within the garden are available for the cultivation of flowers and vegetables.  If you enjoy gardening, please join us and become part of the community garden!
