 Yard Waste Collection

West Pittston began collecting yard waste
on April 2nd and 3rd
and will continue to do so until late fall.

Each Monday yard waste will be picked up at the curb from properties between Montgomery Avenue and Erie Street and on Tuesdays from Montgomery Avenue to Susquehanna Avenue.

Yard waste includes shrubbery or grass clippings and tree limbs not exceeding three feet in length or 1/2 inch diameter. Brown lawn and leaf clipping bags or containers (preferably those provided by the borough) with yard waste must be no more than 30 pounds.  Any containers over that weight will not be collected. Leaves will be collected in containers or biodegradable bags. No plastic bags will be accepted.

Curbside collection of recycling is the first and third Thursday of each month.

The  Public Works Department is open on Saturday from 8:00 AM until noon to collect recyclables and cardboard

Council Meetings

Borough Council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Borough Building, 555 Exeter Avenue.

Borough Gets New Emergency Notification System

West Pittston Borough Council announced during its regular monthly meeting April 7, 2015 that it has begun using the CodeRED emergency notification service to alert local residents and businesses of any concerns that may affect the safety or well being of the community. It includes AMBER alerts, evacuation notices, and warnings about traffic hazards.

In order to participate in the CodeRED program, residents must register phones and verify their location. This will ensure borough officials accuracy when targeting an incident in their neighborhood. Borough officials want to assure residents that all information submitted to the program will remain private and will only be used for community notifications.

To register, residents should log onto:
For registration help, call 1-866-939-0911.

Required information includes contact name, address, city, state and zip code as well as a phone number, and whether the property is a residence or business.

Once on the CodeRED page, residents will have their choice of contact message: phone or email. Once a resident signs up, a test message will be sent to the preferred method of contact.
